The Secular Franciscan Order was established by St. Francis of Assisi more than 800 years ago. Our purpose is to bring the Gospel to life where we live and where we work. We look for ways to embrace the Gospel in our lives and try to help others to do likewise.
Secular Franciscans live the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in fraternal communion. We have a specific way of being in the world, and a specific way of being together. This fraternal communion is a constitutive element of our vocation.
Our OFS fraternity is a young fraternity, only 7 years old. Within period of seven years today we are blessed with about 110 OFS vocation, located in 5 different fraternities; 48 permanently professed, 30 in temporal profession and other 32 in candidacy program. We have also about 111 Youfra (Young Franciscan) members. We are enlisted PRESNCE in the wider OFS structure. We hope to be recognized as EMERGING FRATERTIY SOON.
Each of these fraternities meets twice in a month; one for formation and one for general fraternity gathering. They meet every three months to reflect on a topic which would be given earlier. They have two retreats in a year, during Lent and Advent. They also have day of recollection about twice in a year. Each fraternity actively involves in various pastoral activities such as giving religious education classes for the children and visiting sick and elderly; others are involve in health care such as counseling of HIV/AIDS and volunteering hospital service in the Mission hospitals with lack of staff.
